My Definition of "Nerd"

I'm a nerd, plain and simple. However the word "nerd" is not an insult. It is in fact a compliment of the highest order. No two nerds are the same, and the truth of the matter is that everyone (whether they like it or not) is a nerd. Different people are just nerdy about different things. For example...

Online Fantasy Football is essentially Dungeons and Dragons for jocks/sports fans, Therefore, by the transitive property of nerdiness, they are in fact, sports nerds.

Simply put, anyone who has some obsession with something in popular media is a nerd. There are food nerds, movie nerds, sports nerds, fashion nerds, music nerds, gaming nerds, and thousands of sub-categories there of. I would be classified as a science fiction nerd with a major in Star Wars studies.

However, this does not mean that is all I am. I'm also an artist, a sculptor, a film maker, a pool shark, a magician, a sushi lover, a beer snob, a philosopher, and very opinionated. I paln to use this blog to cover all of these topics and then some. I hope you find what I have to say interesting, funny and perhaps even enlightening. Welcome to the world of the One Eyed Jedi.

(Note: The words nerd and geek are synonymous in my book. Some people consider them to be two very different things, but when you boil it down, there is little difference. They used to have very different meanings, but that's a topic for a later blog).
